Dodi Tal Trek

Dayara Bugyal Trek - A Himalayan Dreamscape for Every Trekker

Dodital-Darwa Pass trek takes us into the interior forestscapes of Assi Ganga Valley. This trek offers an amazing escapade into the deep jungles of Uttarkashi. The idyllic 40 km trek starts from Agoda village to a crystal green Dodital Lake at 3,024M and further up to Darwa Pass soaring high at 4,151M.

Day 1
  • Arrival at Agoda Village (2,251M)
  • Distance : 40 kms ( from Amar residency to Agoda village)
  • Duration : 2 hours

Day 1 is dedicated to reaching the basecamp village of Agoda, nestled in the serene Bhatwari Tehsil of Uttarkashi. If you've opted for transportation from Dehradun with us, we assemble at the designated meeting point early in the morning.

Our route begins with a drive from Dehradun to Hotel Amar Residency & Restaurant, a key stop on the way. After a brief halt, we proceed towards Gangori, a charming riverside settlement known for its traditional Garhwali setting. From Gangori, our journey continues through Nald village, offering glimpses of rustic Himalayan life, terraced fields, and forested slopes.

Next, we traverse the route from Nald to Gajoli or Bhankoli village - both equally scenic and culturally rich hamlets. The trail meanders through the pristine countryside, with occasional views of the Bhagirathi valley below. From Gajoli/Bhankoli, a picturesque forest path leads us uphill towards Agoda village, our trek's base camp.

Upon arrival, we check in at a cozy homestay where you can freshen up and relax. Later in the day, we conduct a formal briefing about the trek schedule, safety measures, do's and don'ts, and environmentally responsible practices to follow during the expedition.

Day 2
  • Agoda (2,251M) to Manjhi (2,880M)
  • Distance : 9 kms
  • Duration : 5 - 6 hours

We begin our journey bright and early, energized by a wholesome breakfast. As we leave behind the quaint village of Agoda, a narrow trail leads us gently uphill into the wilderness. Our destination for the day is the scenic campsite of Manjhi, nestled midway between Agoda and Dodital.

The path takes us through a beautiful oak forest, gradually revealing a dramatic section with thousands of stone steps carved alongside a massive rock face. Soon, we find ourselves walking through a mystical silver oak grove, the earthy scent of the trees calming our senses as we venture deeper into the untouched landscapes of Uttarkashi.

The trail then surprises us with a serene green pond fed by crystal-clear mountain streams - a perfect pause point to take in the magic of nature. After crossing a few more streams and maneuvering through a boulder-strewn stretch, the route climbs steadily for the next 4 kilometers. The final ascent leads us to Manjhi, our peaceful home under the stars for the night.

Day 3
  • Manjhi (2,880M) to Dodital Lake (3,024M)
  • Distance : 8 kms
  • Duration : 4 - 5 hours

The day begins on a relaxed note, allowing us to enjoy a peaceful breakfast before hitting the trail. From Manjhi, the route gently meanders through the forest, offering a mostly flat and easy gradient. The path winds through thick woods, with tiny sparkling streams crisscrossing our way - nature's little surprises that add a magical touch to the walk.

As we near the final leg of today's journey, the trail gradually descends for about an hour. We pass by the serene Annapurna Temple and eventually arrive at the sacred Lord Ganesha Temple, which marks our arrival at the beautiful open meadows that surround the pristine Dodital Lake.

Our campsite is set right beside the lake, offering stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. Reaching well before sunset gives us ample time to explore the area, soak in the beauty, and perhaps even click a few memorable shots. Evening snacks and a hearty dinner are served in the cozy dining tent.
As night falls and temperatures begin to dip - sometimes plummeting to as low as -160C in mid-December - we retreat to our tents, grateful for the warmth of our sleeping bags and the serenity of the Himalayan night.

Day 4
  • Dodital (3,024M) to Agoda(2,251M)
  • Distance : 15 kms
  • Duration : 6 - 7 hours trek

Today, we make our way back down, retracing the now-familiar paths that once led us deep into the heart of the mountains. The descent takes us through enchanting forests and along the gentle streams of the Assi Ganga river, where every bend in the trail feels like a reflection of the memories we've created.

With each step, stories flow - tales of challenges conquered, laughter shared, and quiet moments with nature. The rhythm of the forest, the sound of water, and the rustle of leaves seem to echo our own journey.

Though it's a long stretch, the distance between Bhebra and Agoda seems to disappear in no time, as we walk together - lighter, freer, and filled with the warmth

Day 5
  • Agoda (2,251M) to Hotel Amar Residency
  • Distance : 40 kms
  • Duration : 2 hours

As we bid farewell to the serene heights of Agoda, nestled at 2,251 meters, a sense of quiet nostalgia sets in. Every step down feels like leaving a piece of our heart behind in the whispering woods, the crisp mountain air, and the echo of laughter shared on winding trails.

The journey to Hotel Amar Residency isn't just a return - it's a gentle transition from wild nature to warm comfort. Through the windows of the cab, the forest slowly fades, but the feelings remain etched within - of friendships forged, of moments that took our breath away, and of the stillness that only the mountains can offer.

By the time we reach the hotel, there's a silent gratitude in the air - for the trails we walked, the peaks we glimpsed, and the inner peace we now carry home
